Std SetAppearance

Please don't play ping pong. If you don't like a change we have the discussion subpage for every page and you can also write to my talk page.

I made this change purposely because Wikimedia has the nice feature to have image captions being part of the image. There is no reason why one is not allowed to use them. Moreover the page as it was, looked awful - one thin big image, thus scrolling before you actually see the info you want to have.

Now the items of the list are a bit too much to the left, indeed, but still much better than before because the task is to provide info as quick as possible. It least this is my understanding and during daily work with FC I appreciate having a quick look at the Wiki.

That the items are too much at the left, seems to be a bug in our installation of Wikimedia because in the Wikipedia the items are correctly displayed.

Our guidelines, WikiPages, clearly say that we should not use the caption inside the image. This makes them not easily translatable. It's better to translate the text separately. This is how it's done in most other pages that I have modified (many thousands). The caption is always separate from the image. In the past this was inconsistent and many pages had the caption inside the image, but we don't do this any more. Also no floating images, this is hard to handle. It's better to be consistent, even if the results are less than you would like.Vocx (talk) 01:34, 3 August 2020 (UTC)
Our guidelines, WikiPages, don't state that one must use the Caption template. I had a look at the guidelines before I made the image floating. and I cannot find there that floating images are not allowed as well. So I would be interested to see where the reuls you mention are defined and where they have been discussed. --uwestoehr (talk) 10:10, 9 August 2020 (UTC)
