Description

The Draft Snap Perpendicular option snaps to the perpendicular point on edges. The edges can belong to Draft or Arch objects but also to objects created with other workbenches.

This snap option will also find points on the extension of straight edges. Circular edges are always treated as full circles, if a circular edge is an arc the point that is found may not lie on the actual edge.

Snapping the second point of a line to an invisible extension of another line, so that the first one is perpendicular to the second one

Usage

For general information about snapping and the related preferences see: Draft Snap.

  1. Make sure snapping is enabled. See: Draft Snap Lock.
  2. If Draft Snap Perpendicular is not switched on do one of the following:
  3. Choose a Draft or Arch command to create your geometry.
  4. Note that you can also change snap options while a command is active.
  5. Pick a first point. This snap option requires a previous point. The perpendicular point will be determined in relation to this point.
  6. Move the pointer over an edge.
  7. The edge is highlighted.
  8. If a perpendicular is found the point is marked and the icon is displayed near the pointer.
  9. Click to confirm the point.
