Anche se già utilizzabile in diverse parti, FreeCAD è solo all'inizio di un lungo cammino nell'ambiente del CAD.
Serve ancora molto lavoro prima che possa competere con i software commerciali.
Questa sezione fornisce una panoramica di ciò che è pianificato e offre la possibilità di partecipare e di esprimere la propria opinione.
Dato che siamo volontari, possiamo dedicare a FreeCAD solo una limitata quantità di tempo. Quindi, se siete interessati a uno dei temi indicati e se siete disposti ad aiutarci, fatecelo sapere! Per la documentazione del progetto usiamo lo stile Getting Things Done (GTD) . Queste sono le Linee guida del progetto (Project template).

Calendario delle Versioni
Come nelle maggior parte dei progetti di Software libero e open source (FLOSS) definire un calendario dei rilasci è molto difficile. Non ci sono date prestabilite e tutto "È fatto, quando è fatto!" ("It's done, when it's done!").
