Gli ambienti complementari sono quelli creati da utenti esperti, e che non sono stati integrati nel codice sorgente di FreeCAD principale.

Questi ambienti non sono supportati dal principale team di sviluppo di FreeCAD, quindi non sono testati per funzionare con tutte le versioni di FreeCAD. Domande, segnalazioni di bug e richieste di miglioramento dovrebbero essere fatte direttamente agli autori del particolare ambiente.

La maggior parte di questi ambienti può essere installata tramite Addon Manager, menu Strumenti → AddonManager.svg Addon manager. Assembly workbenches

A partire da FreeCAD 0.19 non esiste un ambiente di lavoro di assemblaggio ufficiale. Tuttavia, sono stati creati o sviluppati diversi strumenti esterni per manipolare oggetti per la produzione di assiemi.
